Tanami Traces Series
Southern Ice porcelain 40 x 52 cms from show RED EARTH opening
on Australia Day in Frankfurt.
Memories of quiet times, reflective of open spaces, shifting
sands and changing hues. All this and more is the land of
the Tanami. There is a sense of old-time stories, of weaving
of dreams – the weft and warp of an ancient place. People
have lived there for thousands of years following the seasons,
wandering their land, fed and nurtured by this land. On the
face of it there is a sameness about the place but nothing
could be further from the truth. The land bursts with abundance
in good seasons and hidden secrets of rich places are there
to be found for those who understand this place. The traces,
the lines, evoke the richness of a diverse and changing landscape
– a landscape which colours its responses – the
chameleon of place.
